On the 2nd and 3rd of September 2023, the Hawarden Singers contributed to the “Then and Now” open afternoon event in the Hawarden Institute. The event publicised the rich and eventful history of Hawarden, and current social activities involving the people who live in this beautiful village.
The event was the first in it’s kind in the village. Several groups who use the Hawarden Institute contributed displays. Hawarden Photographic Society, Hawarden Cricket Club, Hawarden Table Tennis Club and local historians shared their written memories and albums of old village photographs. One of the highlights of the afternoon was provided by The Shirley School of Dance, who rehearse in the Institute and who treated attendees to a very talented performance on both days.
Displayed at the event were archive materials from the choir. It is extensive, detailed and provides a fascinating insight into the history of one of the most established choirs in North Wales. Please feel free to browse the photographs below.
